WATER PENETRATION TEST KIT

The Karsten test is a well-proven and reliable method for measuring moisture absorption in concrete, brick, mortar, plaster, natural stone and other mineral materials in the field. It is a non-destructive test according to the Karsten method and simulates heavy rain at double hurricane force (157 km/h). The kit is designed for contractors, consultants and moisture experts who want to test mineral materials before and after e.g. repointing of brick facades, impregnation or hydrophobing.
The test is carried out by fitting graduated glass tubes and sealing them with plasticine to the substrate. The tubes are then filled with water, which forms a water column against the substrate. The water absorption is periodically read against the scale over a fixed period of time. Measurement protocol and manual with limit values (DIN 1048/4117) for different materials and impregnated and hydrophobised substrates are provided.
