About Komsol

Since 2001, Komsol has developed systems for concrete protection with a clear objective: to extend the service life of structures by controlling the single most critical deterioration factor – water.

Our technologies are based on silicates and silane/siloxane and act within the pore structure of the concrete without forming surface films. The result is reduced water ingress, lower risk of frost damage, leaching and reinforcement corrosion – while maintaining the material’s vapour permeability. We develop, manufacture and deliver solutions for structures in demanding environments: bridges, parking structures, water-exposed installations, industrial floors and façades. Applications include both new construction and advanced renovation, where the focus is on long-term performance rather than short-term surface effects.

The Komsol Group operates through companies in Sweden, Germany and Spain. Head office and production are located in Kungshamn, with a central warehouse in Varberg and operational presence in Stockholm. The organisation is technically driven and operationally efficient, supported by an international network of trained partners ensuring correct application in every project.

Development takes place in direct contact with customer projects and within our local environment. On the Swedish west coast, concrete is continuously exposed to salt, moisture and temperature variations – conditions that place high demands on materials and methodology. Our systems are tested and verified both internally and by independent, accredited institutes to ensure that performance is not only achieved in laboratory conditions, but in real-world applications.

Our strength lies in the people behind the systems. Komsol’s work is based on extensive experience of concrete behaviour, deterioration mechanisms and how these are influenced by moisture, salts and environmental exposure. This knowledge is applied in practice through moisture diagnostics, damage assessment, substrate evaluation and application methodology. In many projects, we are involved at an early stage together with consultants, engineers and contractors to define the correct protection strategy – not just the right product.

Our reference projects range from schools and public environments to critical infrastructure. One example is work on concrete protection in connection with the reactor containment (Wet Well) at Forsmark 3 – a project where requirements for function, safety and long-term performance are absolute.

Komsol’s approach is straightforward: sustainable concrete is not achieved through surface treatments that conceal problems, but through systems that address the root cause of deterioration. This is where our knowledge, our methods and our products make a difference over time.
